Re-Engineered / Rewound transformers

At FT we have enormous wealth of experience and knowledge of re-engineered transformers. We have completed the process on as small as 5KVA Single Phase (This is harder than a 1MVA) to 5MVA.

Some are returned “Literally” as a “a bag of bits” while others look – at first glance- in pretty good condition. All need something different- from a tap changer or terminal connection to a full re-wind. We acknowledge that downtime cost money - so we will go the extra mile to ensure the refurbishment is completed within an agreed timescale and are committed to ensure the customer is up and running ASAP. We also offer a “breakdown” service working days, nights weekends to repair or replace failed units.

We do pride ourselves in our “Can do” attitude which could not happen without the dedicated skilled workforce we have. We have well over 350 years’ worth of Transformer manufacturing experience in our ranks, along with apprentices learning the skills from time served professionals.

We hold the intellectual rights for SKOTS, Transmag UK Ltd, Power Transformers (Birmingham) Ltd and ITEM. All long since gone, but the electrical designs present here with us in Birmingham- means we can manufacture any previously built designs. We can also re-engineer any other manufacturers transformers to the original specifications.

We have refurbished more than 25 -ABB manufactured units over the last few years for a longstanding customer in the South of the UK. Others have included Steel melting production in Sheffield & Birmingham, a National Utility Company for wind farm power generation in the North Sea and the very north of the UK and many, many others.
